LAP offers for internal and external users several facilities and test
arrangements for conducting test activities and experiments necessary for
development, qualification and calibration of space instruments and
equipment.

The Proton Irradiation Facility PIF was constructed for
testing and calibration of spacecraft
components. The facility is designed in a user friendly manner and is
commonly available.
It enables generating of realistic proton spectra encountered at any
potential orbit in space.
The main task is to study radiation effects on space electronics and
test radiation hardness
of satellite instruments. Additional test with secondary neutrons can
also be performed. |

Low Temperature Equipment
In addition, PIF offers wide access to our
cryogenic facilities. We provide various cryostats able to reach
temperatures down to tens of miliKelvin (ADR). The laboratory is fully
equipped with monitoring and measurement electronics as well as liquid
Helium supply and control apparatus. |
Several large user facilities are also available at PSI for
wide range of applications, tests and studies
